Commercial Cleaning Specifications

Standard cleaning specifications for offices, schools, medical practices, warehouses, and retail premises. Use these as a starting point for your own site survey, tender process, or procurement documentation.

Every CQD client receives a written cleaning specification tailored to their specific premises during a free site survey. These templates show you what to expect — and what to ask for from any cleaning contractor.

Why a Written Cleaning Specification Matters

A cleaning specification is the document that defines exactly what your cleaning contractor is expected to do — and when. Without one, there is no agreed standard, no basis for quality checks, and no way to hold a contractor accountable when standards slip.

Many businesses discover they don't have a cleaning specification only when something goes wrong — a CQC inspection flags cleanliness concerns, an Ofsted inspector asks for documentation, or a client visits and the boardroom hasn't been cleaned.

CQD provides a written cleaning specification for every client site as part of the free site survey process. It's the foundation of a professional cleaning contract — and it's something every business should have.

Accountability

A specification gives you a documented standard to measure performance against. If a task isn't done, you can point to the specification.

CQC & Ofsted compliance

Healthcare and education premises need written cleaning documentation for regulatory inspections. A specification is the starting point.

Procurement

If you're tendering for a cleaning contract, a specification ensures all contractors are quoting for the same scope of work.

Onboarding

A written specification means a new cleaning team knows exactly what is expected from day one — no ambiguity, no missed tasks.
